Central officer visits Nagaland to inspect agricultural scenario

Kohima, April 2 (MExN): RK Singh, Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Co-opn, GoI, who is the nodal officer for Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh, recently visited the State Agriculture Department with the purpose of reviewing agriculture activities, specifically the CSS schemes under implementation.

Accompanied by the Directorate and District Agriculture officers, a daylong field visit was made to Khuzama TRC and Jhum potato fields, traditional beekeeping methods of Mima village, ATMA Fishery Farm school, RKVY sponsored marketing shed and irrigation structures, and mechanized land preparations of the Mima Rice bowl areas on March 28.

A press release from Additional Director of Agriculture, L Mero informed that the villagers of both Khuzama and Mima interacted with the visiting officer on the CSS programme benefits and constraints faced.

On the evening of his arrival on March 27, a meeting was also held with the APC & Commissioner Secretary Imkonglemba, IAS, Director of Agriculture N Tekatushi Ao and officers of the Agriculture Directorate at Hotel Japfu. The state agriculture profile, CSS plans and revised new guidelines, farming scenario in the state and implementation aspect were mostly discussed at length besides an appraisal of the Gol funding pattern, installment release and related issues.

Before leaving for Delhi, RK Singh also inspected the State Bio-control, State Bio-Fertilizer Labs and SAMETI at Medziphema on the March 29.
