
Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): Dr. Munish Joshi, National Consultant, Rajender Thapar, IEC/BCC Consultant from Directorate of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme from Delhi visited Nagaland for reviewing Indoor Residual Spray activities and observance of Anti Malaria Month in Nagaland.
A press note from the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare stated that they visited three districts – Kohima, Phek and Dimapur for reviewing the programme activities. In continuation to review the programme a training of Malaria Technical Supervision of the state was also conducted for two days where they were trained regarding LQAS (Lot Quality Assurance Sampling) to be conducted in each district every quarter. Dr. P.K. Phukan, State Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant of Assam (NVBDCP) also came to impart the training. The training was in the form of presentation and group discussions.
Also, a co-ordination meeting was organised between State District Programme Officers for Malaria Control and DPO’s from Caritas India which is a partner of NVBDCP under "Global Fund Round 9 Project for North East States".
The note stated that Dr. M. Joshi from Directorate of NVBDCP and Rudy Gangte, Project Manager Caritas India Delhi gave presentations on overview of GFATM Round 9 Project.
Discussions were held on the integration issues so as to provide a united front against the fight with Malaria. State representatives and Caritas India representatives presented their views on integration.
Moreover, the training of MTS and Integration Meeting was chaired by Dr. Neiketou Angami, State Programme Officer NVBDCP (Nagaland) who gave direction on how to organise LQAS as well as regarding integration of NVBDCP and Caritas India activities. He also gave an overview of the Malaria Control activities in Nagaland. The meeting ended by giving a vote of thanks by Ketholeho, Sr. Entomologist (NVBDCP), the press note said.
