KOHIMA, MAY 8 (MExN): The Chief Election Officer (CEO), Nagaland, has informed that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect following the declaration of results for the General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry, 2026, as well as bye-elections in Assembly constituencies of Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Tripura.
According to a notification issued with reference to Election Commission of India letter No.437/6/1/ECI/INST/FUNCT/MCC/2026 dated May 7, 2026, the MCC has been lifted in all concerned areas except in 144-Falta Assembly Constituency in West Bengal, where a fresh poll has been ordered by the Election Commission.
