CGBU for smooth implementation of Kohima-Dimapur 4-lane project

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): The Chakroma GB Union (CGBU) has requested all to co-operate with the authorities for smooth implementation of the 4-lane Kohim-Dimapur road project. The Union considered it a privilege that the proposed project falls under Angami traditional land.

“As it is the practice and tradition of the Angami Nagas that there should be no blockage for roads and waterways, even the present NH 29 was constructed without any compensation or objection from the traditional land owners,” CGBU General Secretary, Atso Gwizan and President, Thepfukedo Kuotsu said in a press release.

The union has requested the villages, in whosesoever jurisdiction the highway crosses, to assist in the works undertaken in whatever ways possible without any impediment, provided the government clears all pending land compensations or other dues payable to the land owners as per the present practices.

The union, at the same time, opined that “it will be well for all of us if our local contractors under the aegis of NCSU, not to hamper the developmental programs, gracefully initiated by the Government of India, as we do not have the requisite equipments to take up such project, and also to enable quality works to be executed, unlike the cosmetic applications, which we have seen so far.”

It added, “We should be far sighted and not to look for narrow-minded and immediate, short term gains.”
