Several organizations mourned the sudden demise of Murohu Chotso, Secretary (Rtd) to the Govt. of Nagaland, who passed away August 20 in Kohima. Chotso hails from Phusachodu village of Phek district.
KG Kenye: Nagaland’s power & parliamentary affairs minister KG Kenye stated “Lt. Murohu has immensely contributed to our society as an officer and a leader post his retirement with his vast wisdom and maturity. Throughout his lifetime, Late Murohu was known for his sincerity and earnestness in his service. His contribution specifically towards the promotion and preservation of our traditions, culture and customary laws is worth mentioning.”
Wepretso Mero: “It is shocking and beyond imagination that Mürohű Chotso, NCS (Retd. Secretary, Government of Nagaland), passed away this morning at a time when our Chakhesang community needed him the most,” stated Wepretso Mero, NCS (Retd. Commissioner & Secy and Former Chairman, State Quality Control Board, Govt. of Nagaland). As an administrative officer, he was a consistent and outstanding administrative officer throughout his career. His tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung and Phek was marked by dedicated service, where the people of both districts benefited immensely under his able leadership and effective administration. He skillfully tackled critical situations, restored normalcy, and earned deep respect for his integrity and commitment, stated Mero.
He was also the author of the Chakhesang community’s customary laws and traditions, contributing greatly to preserving our identity and guiding future generations.
PDSA: The Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) stated that during his (Murohu Chotso) tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Phek and Chairman, District Sports Council Phek, the Phek sports fraternity have been indebted to him for his financial and moral support given to young sports enthusiasts.
Your contribution and dedication will forever be engraved and remembered in our hearts for the years to come, according to PDSA president Nezosa Tetseo and general secretary Rupfuzo Puro.
CWA: The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) stated “Late Murohii Chotso was not only a dedicated and a sincere bureaucrat who have served the government in various capacities but was a thorough gentleman, God fearing, humble and a fatherly figure who always stood in front for the welfare of the wrestling fraternity.”
He was a pioneering member who has immensely contributed during the initial formation of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association and also a man behind designing CWA Champion waistcoat. His legacy will continue to live afresh in our hearts, stated CWA president Vezohu Ruho and general secretary Kukhoto Venyo.
CCO: The Chakhesang Cultural Organization (CCO) stated that Late Murohu Chotso consecutively served as the CCO general secretary from the year of 2009 till 2019 and he was the President of CCO during the year 2021-2024.
He was a well-known about our customary Laws and Traditional practices amongst our Chakhesang community, stated CCO president Kedoulhitso Wetsa and general secretary Vethikhoyi Khamo.
CHK: Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK) stated “Through his valuable service and unwavering commitment, he stood out as an exceptional leader and a strong pillar of the community.”
His legacy of humility, leadership, and compassion for the community will always be cherished, stated CHK president Dozohii Tunyi.
Neiba Kronu: Former minister Neiba Kronu stated “He (Late Murohu) was a fine gentleman who always pay special concern about the Chakhesang people. He had done a lot about the Chakhesang customary law.”
CCLC: The Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) stated “His seminal work 'Chakhesang Customary Laws & Its Traditional Practices' stands as a cornerstone of cultural preservation, while his invaluable contributions to the CCLB in promoting the Chokri language have enriched our heritage for generations to come.”
His contributions will continue to inspire and guide us in preserving the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of the Chakhesang people, stated CCLC chairman Vekhozo and general secretary Dr. Vekhruzo Keyho.
