Chakhesang Mothers Association demands early implementation of 33% Reservation Bill

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): The Chakhesang Mothers Association (CMA), the apex body of all Chakhesang Women appeals the concerned authority to implement the Women Reservation Bill which was passed by the Government of Nagaland vide Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001 in the year 2006 whereby it had promulgated one third reservation of all elected seats for women in the municipal and town councils of Nagaland.
A press note issued by Kuthozulu Rose, president and Nungotsolu Kezo, general secretary CMA stated, “We, the Chakhesang Mothers Association continue to stand in solidarity with the Naga Women in voicing out our concern for early implementation of the Act empowering the women to have a greater participation in the policy making bodies of the society.” It stated that no nation or society can truly progress and achieve goals of equitable progress and development, if the inborn and unique resources available in women are not fully utilized. The women truly have their own unique gifts and ability of bringing Peace, Unity and over-all development in the family and society.
In line with the Indian Constitution which guarantees equal rights for both sexes  and entitles women to enjoying economic, social and cultural and political rights on equal footing with men, the CWA once again appeal to the concerned authority to implement the Act without further delay. “We also appeal to all the right thinking citizens to kindly respect the women’s legal and human rights at all cost and in the greater interest of the society,” it stated further.
