Chakhesang wrestling championship 2026 on Feb 7

Champion to get Rs 2.50  lakh

Kohima, January 25 (MExN): The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) under the aegis of Nagaland Wresting Association is all set to hold its 30th Senior & 4th Under-15 Naga traditional wrestling championship 2026 on February 7 at Pfutsero Sports Complex, Pfutsero under Phek district.

James P K Sangma, Working President, National People’s Party (NPP), vice president, Council of State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation of India,  chairman, Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation and president, Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) will  be the special guest.

The champion under senior category will win a cash prize of Rs 2.50 lakh while second and third position holder will get Rs 1.70 lakh and Rs. 1.30 lakh respectively.

The fourth position will receive Rs 1 lakh.

A cash award of Rs 1000 per bout will be awarded to each winner from the first round up to the pre-quarter finals (i.e. Rs 3000 per round bout for seniors only)

The group champion will receive Rs 20,000 while the best discipline team will get Rs 10,000.

The champion Under 15 category will pocket Rs 50,000 while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position will get Rs 30,000, R 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Quarter finalists will get Rs 5000 each.

The prize sponsors includes; Sanüzo Nienu, Director, Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland, Vekhoyi Chakhesang, Director, Food & Civil Supplies, Govt. of Nagaland, Nikho Venuh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chümoukedima, Govt of Nagaland, Neisazo Domeh, District Civil Supply Officer, Phek, Govt. of Nagaland, Nezosa Tetseo,  President, Phek District Sports Association and Vekhayi Rüho.

Hükhonieyi Soho will be the chief referee. He will be assisted by Hüvesü Puro, Lhüvenü Phesao, Vechita Khesoh, Vekhriyi Chüzho, Sürhoneyi Soho, Zacüta Puro, Seyielhoukho Sechü and Khrietuolie üsou.

The jury board will consists Zazhota Dawhuo, Thüvoswüyi Lohe and Müdongoyi Swüro.

The meet will be managed by Porbami Wrestling Association.
