Chakhesang youths want shooting group to ‘come out’

Kohima, June 15 (MExN): The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has reiterated that any group or individual that attempted to take the life of Nevohu Rhakho on June 7 last at Mohonkhola in Kohima “should come out openly.” The organization has also asked the underground groups to stop blaming each other and in fact probe within their organizations and “come out openly.”

The youth organization has stated that “in no uncertain terms that the act is detrimental to the well being of the society and is condemnable by all right thinking citizens.”

“We have noticed in the local dailies that some political groups are playing blame game in the public domain and we urge them to thoroughly probe within themselves and come out openly if any individual from their respective groups have committed the act. Should any group harbour the guilty after unearthing the facts, the Chakhesang Youth Front will not extend our cooperation,” the CYF stated in a note today. The note was appended by CYF president Zhopayi Nakro and organizing-secretary Mudongoyi Swuro.

The CYF also expressed displeasure at the ‘slow pace of investigation’ by the authorities despite repeated appeals from the people. “The bounden duty to protect its citizens by the State should be upheld and we urge the authorities to nab the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment to the guilty,” the CYF said. The organization appreciates the initiatives of the Angami Youth Organisation and the town colony youths in trying to curb antisocial elements in Kohima town, particularly in “this incident for which we will extend our fullest cooperation.”
