Changki Senso clarifies

The Changki Ayem Asem Senso Mongdang (CAASM) express surprise to read the article “Cultural Renaissance of Changki” by Imkongnungsang Jamir published in Morung Express which is contradictory with that of the contents and it is never a revival of Changki customary practices and usage. The other article under the caption “Love for Changki” by R Chakhesang published in Nagaland Post which the CAASM thank him for his big love of Changki and admiration of the great village Changki.

As writers it could have been better and wiser if such articles were published after proper studies of the issues or hearing from both sides of the parties. Publishing articles in the press media with bias attitude always leads public in confusion. To avoid such misleading and confusion, the CAASM had openly published their declaration in the leading local papers to come to Changki village to verify and to know the facts. If at all, the articles were actually written by the said persons, they should not be afraid to declare the indentification and addresses. The press media also should not have entertained their articles without identifying the persons concerned. Anybody under the Heavens may like to verify any Ao- Naga functionaries from any village or from the DB Court Mokokchung. The customary practices and usages are not only about Changki village but this is the customary practice of the Aos.

The CAASM is pondering whether the learned writer R Chakhesang (if he exists) is in the knowledge of having such customary practices and usages of Chakhesang tribe or not. It is sure and certain that the Chakhesang tribe must be having its own customary practices and usages. By publishing the said article by R Chakhesang is like poking his nose in somebody’s affairs which is not at all known to him and had created misunderstanding between the Chakhesang tribe and Changki village.

Many may say that the Emrem Changki clan of Changki village had been expelled from Changki Senso (citizenship) for no faults of theirs and depriving their rights but to all readers, the CAASM make it very clear that as a bona-fide citizen of the country, every citizen has got his own fundamental rights and duties. So in this case, the Emrem Changki clan had failed to do their duties as bona-fide citizens. Rights imply duties, but Emrem Changki clan only claims their rights but refused to carry out their bounden duties. Can any Naga or Naga tribe justify Emrem Changki clan’s action under their customary practices and usages?

Talilemba, Press Secretary CAASM
