The 76th Annual General Meeting cum 4th Triennial Conference of the Changtongya Students’ Union (Changtongya Kaketshir Telongjem, CKT) kicked off today at Changtongya village. Students from various units converged at the village to participate at the two-day event.
The first day also featured the 7th cultural day of the union.
While a formal programme was held in the first session, the cultural event was held in the second session.
With the objective of reviving traditional cultural knowhow as well as acquainting the young students with various practices of the past, the event featured competitions in various disciplines like cultural dance and songs, traditional yarn spooling and indigenous fire-making etc.
The event was inaugurated by Repalemzung Longkümer, the Editor of ‘Lenjeter,’ an Ao language monthly magazine while the Kosasanger Village Council (Putu Menden) presented a folksong.
In the evening, the units tested their vocal and artistic capabilities by competing in octet (hymns) and drama competitions.
The Ao Students Conference President (AKM) Imkongwati Longkümer also exhorted the gathering.
On December 27, the 4th CKT Sports Meet will be inaugurated by K Olem Jamir, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture Nagaland.
CKT units from different places will compete in games including tug-of-war, penalty shootout, and obstacle as well bamboo stilts race.
The highlight of the event will be sector-wise basket weaving and dao sharpness competitions.
The two-day event will conclude with a formal programme in the evening at the Changtongya Baptist Church.
