‘CHC at Shamator in heart-rending condition’

Shamator, July 20 (MExN): The Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF) and the Shamator Town Students Union (STSU) on behalf of the people of the area have written an open letter to the Chief Secretary, Nagaland highlighting the “heart-rending” condition of the Community Health Center at Shamator Town.

Stating that the only hospital at Shamator was upgraded from PHC to CHC in May, 2014, the two organizations claimed that the condition of the hospital has remained unchanged in regard to the facilities and strength of the staff available at present.

“The CHC, Shamator is still manned by only one doctor and the present strength of staff is same as it was before up gradation,” the letter stated while disclosing that many sick people are left unattended when the doctor goes on leave or on other official duty.

While appreciating the present staff who are rendering their best service, the STPF and the STSU maintained that the ratio of the strength to the population of the town is quite less “due to which many of the patients still suffer”.

In this regard, the STPF and the STSU appealed the Chief Secretary to look into the genuine problems of the hospital and send the required number of doctors and staff nurse as per the norms of CHC at the earliest.
