Kohima, January 21(MExN): The farming community of Chiechama village on January 21 celebrated the silver jubilee of Chiechama Peli Kro Kerepouko Kepekrokelie at the amphitheatre in Chiechama village under Kohima district, in the presence of 11 farmer groups (Peli) and village residents.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest, Helie Rüpreo, Former Director of Agriculture, lauded the Chiechama Farmers Association for keeping alive the village’s traditional farming culture. He encouraged farmers to continue practising traditional agriculture by helping one another, stating that traditional cultivation has, for generations, formed a vital part of cultural identity.

He also urged farmers to work with honesty and dignity to receive the blessings of Almighty God.

Earlier, the special guest hoisted the flag of the Chiechama Farmers Association.

The programme was chaired by CFA vice-president Khriengulie Rio and compered by Apenuo Keditsu and Keneingusa Rüpreo. A traditional blessing was offered by Pukoulie Chadi, while invocation was proposed by Rev Soneiu Metha, followed by a welcome address by the CFA president.
