Chiiwhuonuo farmers club attend NABARD training

Kohima, May 17 (MExN): One-day awareness training programme for the members of Chiiwhuonuo farmers club under the aegis of NABARD Nagaland was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima on May 15 at Tuophema village.

Speaking as resource person K. Michael Pienyii (SMS Plant Protection) spoke on the topic of cultivation and management practices on ginger and soybean. He emphasized on use of healthy and certified seeds, to maintain healthy field sanitation to obtain a good yield. He also demonstrated seed treatment using Trichoderma species and urged the farmers to adopt scientific method of farming.  

Zhiete (SMS Soil conservation) spoke of the topic reclamation of acidic soil and demonstrated the dose requirement of lime application and its application. He further demonstrated the application of Rhizobium and phosphotika inoculation in soybean seeds.

Longma Yanger (SMS Soil Conservation) delivered the topic on Market-Led-Extension and encouraged the farmers to grow high value crops and to identify marketable commodities in demand for better income generation. He also enlightened the farmers on Agricultural tourism and the scope of farmers club in generating revenue through indigenous cultivation.

Meanwhile the programme started with invoking God blessing by Rhizolie Head Deacon, while Mengutuo Secretary Chiiwhuonuo farmers club proposed the vote of thanks.
In another programme, KVK Kohima conducted a frontline demonstration on the commercialization of broiler poultry farming on May 9 at CRBC, Zunpha. For the demonstration, 330nos. of broiler chicks (Vencobb 400), veterinary medicines and feeds were distributed to eight beneficiaries. Later, the office organised a vaccination camp for poultry at the same place and vaccinated around 400 nos. of poultry birds.
