DIMAPUR, MARCH 26 (MExN): A children’s praise march was organized today under the aegis of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Christian Education Department for Sunday school children of 12 years and above. The programme which was slated to start at 2 P.M. began at around 2:30 P.M. The marchers started from the Christian Higher Secondary School compound going along Dhobinala road and stopped for a short while at Deluxe Point. From there, the procession followed the Church Road to City Tower junction, which was the final destination. A short programme was held and ended at 5 P.M. as scheduled.
The day itself proved to be pleasant, as though the prayers of the organizers were answered. It was quite a surprise to see a large number of children enthusiastically and actively taking part in the March, and without hesitation expressing themselves loudly. Speaking to W.Terhuja who was the Area co-ordinator and Nimeno Liegise, this reporter learnt that invitations had been officially extended to 40 churches within the Dimapur Area, encompassing the churches of different and various tribes. W. Terhuja said that in the previous years, Children’s Rallies used to be held. This year, the NBCC decided to be more innovative and came up with the Children’s Praise March. Thus, this March is the first of its kind in Nagaland for the children as it has enabled the children to showcase their talents through singing and choreography. It has also provided the children with a chance to be able to evangelise to people of other communities.
It can be estimated that approximately a 1000 children took part in this Praise March, which ultimately proved to be successful. A point to be noted is the fact that traffic congestion took place to a small degree due to the meeting being held at the City Tower Junction.
