Chümoukedima, July 7 (MExN): In view of the onset of monsoon and consequent risk of rockfalls and landslides, Chümoukedima Deputy Commissioner Polan John, NCS, on Tuesday issued a public safety advisory for all commuters using the NH-29 stretch between Chathe Bridge (Unity Gate) - Tsiedukhru - Khuokhi Bridge, Kukidolong.
The advisory, aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring public safety, directs to drive with extreme caution especially during heavy rainfall and at night.
Commuters have been directed to strictly follow traffic diversions and adhere to instructions issued at site. “The left-hand side (LHS) carriageway of the 4-lane highway is liable to be temporarily closed to traffic without prior notice, whenever deemed necessary,” the DC said.
The DC also appealed to the public not to circulate fake or unverified information regarding road conditions or incidents to avoid panic, urging them to rely on official updates from competent authorities.
“The cooperation of all road users is solicited in the interest of public safety,” the DC added.
