The Chokri Area Union Kohima (CAUK) held its General Session 2025 with Nagaland CAWD & Taxes Advisor, Kudecho Khamo as the speaker at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on October 11.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo asserted that Naga society is confronting problems such as substance abuse, unemployment, and other issues. He emphasized the role of parents in addressing these challenges, as everything begins at home.
He underscored the need for a change in behaviour, approach, and thinking, and called for collective efforts. He urged thinkers and officers to deliberate and reflect for the greater interest of society through unity.
Khamo highlighted the need to inculcate a work culture that is biblically aligned with traditional values in order to fight corruption. He stated that entrepreneurship is the way forward to address unemployment, emphasizing dedication, while those aspiring for government jobs should be sincere and hardworking.
He also called for a resolve through willpower to bring change and the people to take up projects and entrepreneurship to achieve economic progress and growth.
Zhothisa Dawhuo, Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Nagaland, advised the people to be mentally and physically prepared for the reservation review and to accept it positively, irrespective of the outcome. He also advised the community to live well and not bring a bad name to the community.
Rothihu Tetseo, IGP, urged the Chokri people to maintain their identity and understand the deeper meaning of being called Chokri. He warned against individual championship in society, which brings disturbance, and called upon the people to think collectively for the good of society. He expressed concern over the proliferation of many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with profit motives and liabilities to others.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Cekrongoyi Theyo while the secretary’s and treasurer’s report was presented by Vevotso Medeo and Sekhosa Chuzho respectively. The programme was led by Vephuta Rhakho.
A new team of the CAUK will be led by Dr. Rupfuhu Rose as chairman and Cekrongoyi Theyo as general secretary among the others.
