Kohima, December 23 (MExN): The 38th annual sports meet of the Chozubami Youth Association held at Chozuba under Phek district concluded on December 22. Veswuku nienu, chairman village youth council was the guest of honour and also gave away the awards to the winners.
During the four-day long event, four blocks participated whereby Synthetic Block emerged as the overall champion for the sports meet. Khrukuta Neinu and Vekunulu Rhakho were awarded for the individual title for men and women respectively.
In the football final match, Synthetic Block defeated Leather Block By a solitary goal to take the title. Synthetic team dominated the first half but failed to break through. In the second half, Kudulhu Rhakho scored in the 59th minute which proved to be the winning goal. Leather Block got their chance to find the equaliser in the dying minutes but goalie Nulhuta Rhakho produced a stunning save of Berelhu Shijoh's free-kick and helped the team win the match.
While playing the league system, Rubber Block, league leaders was adjusted as the winner for women's category in football. Individual awards were won by the following - Player of the tournament (football) - Toh Shijoh (Men), Khotsolu ringa (Women). Best volleyballer - Vekulhu Shijoh (men), Khotsolu ringa (women). Highest scorer basketball - Toh Shijoh (men), Risuhlu Rhakho (women).
