A two day annual affair of the NBCC heads of schools conference concluded today which was participated by schools run by church, association and Baptist schools who are affiliated to NBCC all over the state.
In the two days conference, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu, minister for Higher Education & Urban development, Imkonglemba Ao, IAS Commissioner and Secretary School Education, Rev Dr Anjo Keikung, General Secretary NBCC, and Dito Savi, managing director High Mountain School were the resource person.
Speaking on the topic ‘RTE and its impact on Christian Schools’, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu minister for Higher Education & Urban development, said, Christian schools are very much within the preview of RTE Act, and added that beside imparting general subject to the student Christian schools devote much of the time for extra curriculum activities with an aim to impart whole round development with spiritual values and ethics. However, he asked the member schools not to forget the aims and object of mission going through the provision of RTE Act 2009.
The minister also added, the Act may have certain merits and demerits but the argument will not solve any problem but to work towards it so that the academic program do not go against the provision of the act and at the same time protect the standard of the system. Encouraging the private schools, the Minister said that out of fifty top ten positions in recent held NBSE exam Private schools capture 48 where as government schools capture two which speak of the standard of private schools in the state.
Imkonglemba Ao, IAS Commissioner and Secretary School Education who spoke on the topic ‘Teaching Learning material: government prescribed text books vis-a-vis Private entrepreneurship’, dwelt at length of the policies and programs of the government in the state on education and also asked the participants to know how to ask at the right time.
Rev Dr Anjo Keikung, who spoke on the topic vision and mission in school ministry challenge the participants to relocate and redefine vision and mission as per the changing time he also asked the members present to give ones best for health generation. Dito Savi, managing director High Mountain School Dimapur spoke on the joy and the challenges in school ministry.
The conference also resolved to follow common text book, register as society and to have full time education secretary under NBCC.
