Dimapur | July 4 : This time like previous years, thousands of young people from across the different areas of Dimapur district gathered at the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church to celebrate the annual event of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) youth Sunday on July 4 last.  ABAM is the apex organisation of Ao Baptist churches. ABAM youth Sunday has an important account in Ao church history dating way back in 1975.
Dimapur Ao Baptist Church hosted the mass congregation gathered to demonstrate, year 2011’s theme “You are my witness”. The celebration is annually organised by the Dimapur area Ao youth directors alliance. This year’s event witnessed a vibrant participation from sixteen churches.
The two hours long event was attention-grabbing as the churches presented songs, chorals, plays and creative items which reflected the situation Christian youths are facing or going through in the present time. There was an honest effort from one of the churches to put on show how modern entertainments, greed of money and want of fame have moved away young people from living a happy and contended life. Another church made a good delivery with their play on “True Love Waits” and certainly convinced many young people to live a pure life and to promote sexual absence in teenagers. They arranged the play on the international programme of TLW which “bases itself on the Biblical command that an individual is to remain faithful to one’s husband or wife, even before knowing who they will be or before marriage.”
One of the youngest churches did a bright work with the adaptation of the Bible based story of David and Goliath. Staying on line with the story, the actors made the congregation burst in laughter with their hilarious dialogues and amusing acting.
Songs were also sung with indigenous stroke and thus not sounding like the usual church group songs or choir. The praise and worship team also called the congregation to pray for a revival, change and breakthrough in Dimapur.
