CHS urges community to work for peace, development of Chümoukedima

Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Hindu Society (CHS) held its 5th Annual General Meeting on November 23 at Chümoukedima Town Council Hall.

In a press release received here on Monday, it was informed that meeting was divided in two sessions during which the speakers emphasised on the need to promote harmony among the communities of Chümoukedima. 

Along these lines, Chümoukedima ADC Dr Kuzonyi Wideo who was the special guest for the first session, urged everyone to live together in peace and harmony and render services for the uplift and progress of Chümoukedima district. Similarly, Dievilhoutuonuo Thakro, Advisor of CHS also urged the Hindus of Chümoukedima to adhere strictly the  norms and guidelines of CHS by way of supporting and cooperating with CHS officials to strengthen the society and to promote peace and tranquillity in Chümoukedima. 

Neichu-u Kuotsu, Advisor of CHS also stated that Hindus of Chümoukedima have been harmoniously living there for several decades showing good examples. He also stated that Hindus have been struggling for several decades to build a temple in Chümoukedima, however under the Presidentship of Krishan Sharma of CHS, the 'dream project (Temple construction)’ is successfully progressing. Stating that unity is needed in order to make the project a reality, he further stated that the general meeting should be the beginning and urged all to take a pledge to work for peace, development and prosperity of Chümoukedima. 

In the second session, Krishan Sharma, President of CHS also called on the members to be united while also emphasising the need for installation of donation boxes in every Hindu shop establishment along with mandatory registration of the Hindus in CHS. 

Meanwhile, Pintu M Ghosh, Working President of CHS expressed gratitude to the Government of Nagaland and the area MLA for creating Chümoukedima as the 15th District of Nagaland. He also stated that a huge turnout of Hindus of Chümoukedima in the general meeting is a good sign of moving together as one and as such, requested everyone to create a good image to exist and co-exist with other societies in good spirit.

Ghosh also said that the on-going construction of temple in Chümoukedima can only be accomplished, if all the Hindus unite together and contribute positively. Further, he advised the Hindu community to be responsible and not to indulge in any harmful act that would tarnish the good image of the Hindu society and Chümoukedima as a whole, while cautioning that the CHS would not hesitate to take stern steps ‘even to the extent of terminating from CHS.’

Other local leaders also spoke during the sessions dwelling on the need to lend cooperation and coordination and to contribute towards the development and beautification of Chümoukedima. They further expressed to monitor the Hindu public of Chümoukedima of any suspicious behaviour and if found and needed CHS can report to the local bodies for further course of action.

Before the end of the session, CHS passed 6 resolutions which were strongly supported by the Hindu community who further committed to strictly adhere to them in letter and spirit. The CHS meanwhile expressed gratitude to local leaders, advisors and other Chümoukedima organisations for their support, cooperation, and their valuable advice and opinions in various situations and also on how to go about making Chümoukedima a safe and better place to live in.
