Tuensang, September 10 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya visited Tuensang District on September 8 and held a meeting with Tuensang Village Council at Panchayat Hall. According to a DIPR report, the Governor interacted with the Council members and shared the pain and grief for those who lost their property to natural calamities.
“Nagaland is blessed to be a Christian state,” he said stating that “Christian missionaries are the pioneers of education in India. As a Christian state, one must uphold Christian principal of brotherhood and look equally with rest of the people, Churches and educated people must lead for a change in the society.”
Governor on his way to the calamity affected areas visited Government Polytechnic and interacted with the student and faculties at the institution. He called upon the students to work hard and open up their minds for a fast changing world. He said that everyone should equip with current affairs in the world of competition.
Later in the evening, the Governor held meetings with Administrative Officers, Security Agency, Government Officials, Tribal leaders, Chambers of Commerce, Schools students and NGOs and urged them to make contribution to CM Relief Fund for worst affected areas by natural calamities in Nagaland.
On the second day, the Governor visited District Jail Tuensang and interacted with the inmates and encouraged them to make use of their time to bring change in their life. Governor also granted two month remittance to the inmates according to their crimes and also distributed biscuit to the inmates. Governor along with the District Administration further visited Kohdi Children Home and Bethel Children Home Tuensang and interacted with the children and staff and urged them to become God fearing men and women who can make contributions for the upliftment of societies.
Later, in the evening Governor held a meeting with Changsao Thangjam Setshang (Chang Women Organisation) at Navinn conference Hall. The Governor deliberated few points for the welfare of the community as a whole and also to empower women and recruit more women in Nagaland Armed Police (NAP). He also spoke on brief on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and encouraged womenfolk to enter into politics and change the mindset of the community.
The Governor donated one lakh towards Changsao Thangjam Setshang and also held a meeting with Hindu-Muslim community from Tuensang Town at CKS Hall.
