DIMAPUR: In the backdrop of the recent NPSC bribery scam, the Senior Citizens Forum (SCF), Wokha district chapter, has come out with new allegations of a racket in the Police Department where aspiring Police/IRB candidates are made to pay anything between Rs.40, 000 to Rs. 50, OOO to get recruited. These claims were made through a recent press communiqué issued by the Secretary of the SCF.

Urging the State government to set up a CBI inquiry commission immediately to investigate into the matter, the Forum observed that the recent NPSC bribery scandal was hardly surprising given the percolation of corruption in all government offices in Nagaland. The forum alleged that candidates were being selected not on the basis of merit but on the amount of bribe offered. “The same corrupt activities are being practiced even in the State police department” it stated.

The statement also pointed out that even appointment of Grade-IV government employees were being done only after a hefty amount of cash is paid. It questioned as to why the State machinery could not function without bribery and cautioned that the ‘Christian State of Nagaland would face degeneration if the prevailing unethical practices are not checked sincerely by the government.
