City College of Arts & Commerce celebrated its 11th Annual Freshers’ Meet 2018 on the theme ‘Defying Gravity’ on September 21 at the college premises.
Special guest of the occasion, Dr Abemo, Registrar, Nagaland University, Headquarter Lumami exhorted the students by saying, “what you do today is going to decide your future tomorrow.” He encouraged the students to be proud of one’s own identity which comes from self respect, discipline and knowing ourselves. He further reminded the gathering that there was no compromise for hard work.
“Degree cannot be borrowed. Knowledge cannot be borrowed, likewise wisdom can neither be borrowed, it had to be earned,” he stated and urged the students to “give up bad habits now.” Dr Abemo concluded by hoping that the college will produce quality students.
The first session saw varied presentations by the students including ethnic displays by the freshers and sanskrit shlok. Chairman, Board of Management honored the special guest.
Abu Bakkar Siddik of BA 1st semester and Namkoi Khiamniungan of BA 1st semester were adjudged Mister and Miss Fresher accordingly. The title of ‘Mister Perfect’ was won by Riti Kius of BA 1st semester and Miss Congeniality was awarded to Rhonbeni of class 11 Arts. The Comperes were Kuthozo Vero, Alovili Yeptho, Pemin Wangnou and Anden Konyak.
