According to a press release from the college, a total of 26 members, including faculty, office staff, and students, participated in the visit.

During the programme, the group was assisted by Kaustav Pal, Upper Division Assistant, Appellate Side, Calcutta High Court, who helped address students’ queries and facilitated their understanding of court procedures.

The participants observed live court proceedings in both civil and criminal cases, gaining first-hand insight into courtroom practices, legal arguments, and judicial processes, the release said.

The programme was conducted in a disciplined manner, with all participants adhering to court protocols, it noted, adding that the visit served as an enriching experience, helping bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application of law.

The visit was initiated by the City Law College Students’ Union under the guidance of Abigail Yepthomi, Assistant Professor of Law at the college.

The college expressed gratitude to the authorities of the Calcutta High Court for facilitating the visit.

The Calcutta High Court, established in 1862, is the oldest High Court in India and is noted for its rich legal heritage and historical significance, it added.
