The ‘Classical Gala 2022’ in Kohima mesmerized hundreds of gala goers at the Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima on Sunday evening. The ensemble of performers from Nagaland String Orchestra (NSO), Margaret Shishak School of Music (MSSM) singers and The Nagaland Chamber Choir (TNCC) presented Franz Schubert’s ‘Mass in G’, works by Gustav Holst, Elaine Hagenberg, Jake Runestad, Karl Jenkins, Astor Piazzolla and more.

Here, the night commenced with Revelation Song by The Nagaland Chamber Choir with Mhathung Odyuo on the cello, Mhonrhoni Kikon conducting the arrangement and Hotolu Yeptho, on piano. The NCC also performed 'How can I keep from Singing' with piano accompaniment and Thujoi Rhakho conducting the piece.

Together the Nagaland Chamber Choir and MSSM singers accompanied by Ashuni Chakre on piano and Visenuo Rio singing soprano, performed 'Please stay,' and dedicated the piece to people suffering from depression.

MSSM Ladies Ensemble sang 'Song of Miriam' and MSSM singers presented a choral rendition of 'How great thou art.' Nagaland String Orchestra presented Prelude, Air, Allegretto and other pieces were also presented.

Earlier, the organisers informed that the ‘Classical Gala 2022’ has been conceptualised with the aspiration to demonstrate the joy of lifelong learning and to share a wider variety of Western Classical Music, enabling people to experience the power and beauty of large ensemble music and to encourage its growth in Nagaland.
