DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 6 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed condolence on the passing away of Smt Ikhuli Chishi, wife of senior Congress MLA and former Chief Minister KL Chishi. Expressing deep pain, Rio stated that he had personally known Late Ikhuli as a cheerful and caring person and that he had high regard for her humility and generosity – qualities which endeared her to all. Rio stated that in her demise, the people of the State and the Sumi community in particular have lost a woman of substance.
The CM stated that as a home maker married to a career politician who has been in politics for over three and half decades, Late Smt. Ikhuli shouldered most of the responsibilities of maintaining a politician’s home for much of her life, a no mean achievement. “By doing so, she was able to provide a stable foundation for her husband to pursue his career in politics undistracted”.
Rio further stated that she was a person who not only took care of her household but also contributed significantly to the success of her husband and her four daughters and two sons. “We share the pain you are undergoing at this time of grief and bereavement. My wife and all the members of my family convey our deepest condolences to you and the other members of the family. We pray to the Lord Almighty to grant you the strength to tide over this irreparable loss, and may her departed soul rest in eternal peace”.
