
Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has mourned the demise of Michael Yaden, former Director of Civil Defence & Commandant General of Home Guards, who passed away on December 4 in Chennai.
Describing Michael Yaden was a very sociable person, and as someone who was warm and affectionate, Rio recounted his life and work, first as an English News Reader in All India Radio, Kohima Station and eventually as Director of Civil Defence & Commandant General of Home Guards, after he joined government service rose in rank.
“During his tenure, the Civil Defence Organisation as well as the Home Guard Department got commendable upgradations in terms of manpower and infrastructure developments. He took the initiative in raising the State Disaster Response Force by training several batches of policemen from various Armed Police Battalions in the then Home Guard & Civil Defence Training Centre at Tulovi,” Rio stated in his condolence message.
Further, Rio also paid homage to his good friend, stating that he was an upright and dedicated officer in both official and social circles.
His death is a great loss for the people of Nagaland and the vacuum he has left will be difficult to fill, Rio said while conveying condolences on behalf of his family.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton also mourned Yaden’s demise stating that the Nagas have lost an important and dynamic personality for which the vacuum created would be difficult to fill.
On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed to rest in peace.
