Chief Minister TR Zeliang today said some NGOs, tribal hohos are still fighting that election should be deferred. NSF, Naga Hoho, ENPO, NMA and tribal hohos are still on the job that election should be postponed, he said at an emergency meeting of Central Executive Council (CEC) of Naga People's Front (NPF) here.

The CM hoped that whatever decisions, resolutions they make will be intimated to all political parties and that all political parties should decide together if at all election is to be deferred.

“Otherwise, 1998 election boycott should not be repeated. Any political party should not become victim of such move. If all the Nagas agreed, all the political parties should be made a party of such decision,” he stated.

Pointing out that every political party is gearing up for the general election since its announcement, Zeliang said if at all the election is not deferred “…I think we have to get ourselves prepared to face this election.”

He further recalled the crisis within NPF party in the past and called upon the party men and men not to commit any more mistakes. “Let us renew ourselves and work out a formula. If there is a formula any problem can be solved without any difficulty but when there is no formula, simple problem also cannot be resolved,” he urged.

“Let us forgive and forget each other’s mistake and work together to bring back NPF to power and take Nagaland towards development and progress.”

The CM expressed hope that the CEC and Working Committee of NPF will work out a formula to face the coming election.

“We have to stop quarrelling but work cohesively for the success of the party and come back with landslide victory in the next election,” he said, while maintaining that no one can challenge the NPF if “we remain united but if we continue the infighting we will be facing self-defeat.”

Remarking that the NPF-led government has remained strong despite facing several crisis and many difficulties, Zeliang said despite all the crisis and turbulence, the achievement in development sector has been remarkable and Naga people will decide between the last four years’ development and the developmental activities before 2014.

Zeliang also told the party men and women that in the present DAN government there are two ministers and one adviser from BJP “so we cannot say that BJP is not our coalition partner and we will have not have alliance in future.”

“Since we are alliance with BJP we should decide to continue alliance with BJP unless they take U- turn from us. We should not take U-turn from them…we should continue with our coalition partnership with BJP,” he asserted.

With coalition partner and clear understanding, Zeliang stated, “we will have smooth sailing.”

Ministers Kuzholüzo (Azo) Nienu, SI Jamir, and Kaito Aye also spoke at the meeting.
