CM, NSCN (IM) mourn Dr. Temsu Changkiri’s demise

Hebron, March 20 (MExN): Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and the NSCN (IM) today expressed shock and sadness over the demise of Dr. Temsu Changkiri on March 20 in Dimapur.  

In a condolence message, Rio remembered Dr. Temsu as one of the pioneers in the medical profession in Nagaland.  

He said that Dr. Temsu’s Fellowship Nursing Home which was set up in 1978 in Dimapur has the distinction of being the first nursing home in Nagaland.  

“He was a kind-hearted man who always had concern for people in distress and gave free services and medication to the under-privileged sections of society. His numerous humanitarian works bear testimony of his love for the people, yet he preferred to maintain a low profile. His life is an example for all to appreciate and emulate,” the CM stated .  

He further noted that in his demise, “we” have lost a great philanthropist and an outstanding surgeon. The CM along with his wife and family expressed condolences to the members of the bereaved family.  

The NSCN (IM) in a separate condolence message fondly remembered Dr. Temsu as a “benevolent person who had immensely contributed towards building the Naga nation.” He was credited with saving the lives of many Nagas in general and national workers in particular, it said.  

“His demise is a great loss not only to his community but to the Nagas as a whole. His service to the nation shall ever be cherished,” stated the message from MIP, NSCN (IM). “The nation joins the bereaved family he has left behind today in mourning the loss of the precious departed soul, and prays for his noble soul to rest in eternal peace,” it added.
