CM Rio inspects landslide-hit NH-29, orders repair before Hornbill Festival

Kohima, September 25 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday inspected the landslide-affected stretch of National Highway-29 at Liezocha Liezocha, Old BRTF (near temple) and directed officials to complete repairs before the Hornbill Festival.

During the inspection, De Rio discussed immediate and long-term restoration measures with officials including Kohima Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem and Senior Superintendent of Police Khodi Rhetso, state a DIPR report. 

Possible solutions deliberated included widening of the hillside, filling of affected stretch, and seeking expert technical assessment from the Ministry, it stated.

Dr Rio directed the concerned department to take up urgent repair works, stressing that the road must be made motorable at the earliest. He instructed that at least metalling of the affected stretch should be completed before the Hornbill Festival begins, given the crucial connectivity role of NH-29.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Khodi Rhetso, NPS, Chief Engineer Akho Zutso, and other officials of PWD (NH), district revenue and administrative officials, were also present during the inspection.
