CM Rio mourns Dr Sademmeren

Dimapur, August 18 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has mourned the demise of Dr Guru Babu Sademmeren Longkumer, who passed away on Tuesday in Dimapur at the age of 92. 

“Late Sademmeren Longkumer was known for his immense contribution towards conservation of Ao Naga art and culture and had brought laurels to the State,” Rio said in a condolence note.

Dr Longkumer who was a school teacher from 1948 to 1985 was lovingly called as 'Babu Sademba.' He also authored 12 books. Among others, Dr Longkumer was a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in 2003 and was given the tile of “Guru” by the Ministry of Art & Culture in 2008.  

Stating that the Nagas have “have lost a father figure and a guardian,” Rio lamented that Dr Longkumer’s experience, wisdom and guidance will be missed by the society. 

“Naga society has lost a prominent personality and the vacuum will be difficult to fill,” Rio said as he conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
