CNC issues prayer call ahead of Naga National Prayer Day

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Council of Naga Churches (CNC) has issued a nationwide prayer appeal for Naga National Prayer Day on October 18, calling on churches, mission and prayer centres, and Naga families to observe the day.

The third Sunday of October is observed as Naga National Prayer Day, according to the CNC. This year's theme is “come, and let us return unto the Lord” (Hosea 6:1), the CNC stated the appeal.

The CNC stated that the call for a dedicated day of prayer for the Naga nation emerged from a prayer summit attended by about 3,000 church and religious leaders at Agri-Expo,  hümoukedima, on October 25, 2018. Thereafter, the third Sunday of October was designated as Naga National Prayer Day at the 2022 National Assembly at GHQ, Hebron.

In its appeal, the CNC highlighted violence, divisions, corruption, moral degradation, addiction and uncertainty over the future among challenges facing Naga society. It called for prayer, confession and repentance over personal and national concerns, including pride, immorality, jealousy, bloodshed, hatred and division.

The CNC also called for prayers for victims of violence, public leaders, and the peace and prosperity of the public. It urged prayers for the situation in parts of Nagalim and for the leadership of the NSCN and Indian leaders towards the finalisation of the “Competencies” and implementation of the Framework Agreement.

Other prayer points included Naga unity and integration, peaceful living, spiritual renewal and the restoration of families.

Pastors, chaplains and church leaders were urged to lead prayers on October 18, while Nagas at home and abroad were called upon to participate.
