Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has expressed its support to the suggestion made by State’s Health and Family Welfare department to relax time for buying essential in order to avoid crowding.
While seconding the suggestion, CNCCI further opined that “limiting time and regulating to few days a week to buy essential attracts more crowding and therefore defeats the purpose of lockdown from the point of view to maintain social distancing.”
In this connection, the Chamber, while appealing for relaxing the timing for shopping, also urged the state government to “open all the bakeries having production unit, as it is part of essential.”
“It may be noted that bakeries in Nagaland are only the food processing units and closing them down does not serve any purpose rather it is affecting the food chain,” the CCNCCI stated in a press release from its Media Affairs.
The CNCCI also requested the government to take seriously the positive inputs, suggestions and feedbacks from the stake holders and general public.
No outside transportation
Meanwhile, the CNCCI informed that a decision has been arrived at with DCCI to prohibit transportation of essential commodity designated for Nagaland to other states.
It further directed the business community, especially the stockiest and wholesalers, not only to maintain sufficient stock but maintain additional buffer stock over and above normal stock.
If any stockiest and wholesaler is found transporting essential commodity from Dimapur to other state without prior permission from CNCCI and DCCI, they will be dealt strictly and in the event of shortfall they will be held solely responsible, CNCCI cautioned.
Enough supply of essential commodities
The Chamber further assured the public that it is in constant touch with all the district confederates and administration and the public need not worry about the stock of essential commodities in the state.
As the movements of essential commodities are exempted from the purview of lockdown all over India and Nagaland is getting its due share on a regular basis, it added.
However, it appealed the public not to indulge in unnecessary stocking of essentials beyond the needs.
Further, CNCCI categorically directed the business community that in the time of crisis as this, it is duty of the community to help and serve the consumers in any manner possible.
Consequently, it directed the business community to maintain the price fixed by the administration and not to indulge in hoardings and unethical practices.
