Faculty and students of SJU during the Social Work Fest 2026 held at the university campus in Chümoukedima on April 10.
Chümoukedima, April 12 (MExN): The Department of Social Work, St Joseph University (SJU), conducted the fourth edition of Social Work Fest 2026 at the university campus on April 9 and 10.
The two-day event, themed “Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,” drew participation from students, faculty and alumni, with the aim of bridging differences through collaboration and creative expression.
The first day was graced by Sonye Khing, District Programme Manager, RGSA, Department of Rural Development, Nagaland, as the special guest.
In her address, she emphasised that harmony is not uniformity but the weaving together of diverse voices into a resilient fabric. She said co-building hope and harmony requires recognising that unity is a shared responsibility and not the work of any single leader, group or ideology.
The second day featured Isamrang Nsamding, Administrator for Northeast States, All India Private Schools Association (AIPSA) and Managing Director of Montessori Teachers Training Center (MTTC), Jalukie.
Addressing the gathering, he encouraged students to take initiative, continue learning and become ambassadors of change in society.
The fest featured participation from students of various institutions competing in multiple events over the two days.
Competitions included model making, video making, debate, creative show, singing, as well as e-games and a penalty shootout.
The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members from within the university and other educational institutions.
Organisers said the fest successfully fostered teamwork, confidence and interpersonal bonds among participants from diverse backgrounds.
The Social Work Fest 2026 concluded as an impactful initiative, promoting collective responsibility and leaving participants with renewed confidence, strengthened cooperation and a heightened sense of social responsibility
