Committee not satisfied with status, recommends another spot verification

The Committee on Government Assurances (CoGA) 2023-2024 of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) undertook on-the-spot verification of the status of Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Phek on June 12.

The spot verification was led by CoGA chairman Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA with other two members- A. Pangjung Jamir, advisor for Fisheries & Aquatic Resources and G Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor, Land Resources, Nagaland.

While thanking the Chief Minister for given assurance in the last assembly session of the 13th House of NLA in 2022 regarding the status of Phek DC’s Office Complex, Azo said that the Committee has noticed that the EE of CAWD department has not taken the CM’s commitment seriously, wherein, some minor works has not been completed yet.

Inspite of Chief Minister’s assurance in the last assembly session, that the work will be expedited and completed on time, the Committee noticed that the officer-in-charge (EE of CAWD) has taken things very lightly and has never attended the two meetings called by the Assurances Committee, Nienu said.

The chairman said that the Committee was not satisfied with the status as there have been some slight lapses like incomplete toilets and paintings.

He said that the Committee will be recommending another spot verification which is of very serious in nature and requested the officer in charge of the department to rectify some incomplete works and finish on time. In case, this time, it fails, the Committee will have to take action, he said.

Further, Nienu requested the department to complete the work before the golden jubilee celebration of Phek district, which is scheduled on December 2023.

Earlier, Er Imliakum Aier, Assistant Engineer CAWD Phek briefed the status of Phek DC Office complex. He said that civil work was not completed 100 percent but the office was occupied unofficially in 2017.

He told the Committee that funds have been earmarked for furnishing purpose this year.

Other present at the spot verification included; Orenthung, secretary home department and Phek deputy commissioner Kumar Ramnikant.
