Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): The review meeting of the Project Directors and Block Development Officers was held on March 1 at the RD Directorate Conference Hall.
Rural Development Asst. Director K. Neibou Sekhose in a press release said that Commissioner& Secretary RD, V. Sakhrie thanked the VDBs for their cooperation and at the same time asked for continued support in the future endeavors. While revealing that a Joint Parliamentary Committee has been constituted to check the proper implementation of the National flagship programmes, he urged the VDBs to assess the ground realities and be prepared for the verifications.
While acknowledging that the Act of NREGS will continue, he said that we should not neglect the importance of the other Programmes i.e. Micro-Finance, Grant-in-Aid, BRGF, IAY and at the same time be prepared for a new and bigger scheme, namely, the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
S. Pangnyu Phom, Parliamentary Secretary, RD& SIRD, requested the PDs and BDOs to streamline the tasks ahead of them and to follow the rules and decisions of the Government. He also asked the VDBs not to take advantage of the benefits and own up to the loopholes in the Village Councils while fighting for their rights. He also challenged them to insist on non interference of political influences.
He also announced that every Block will have their own Panchayat Ghars”/ “Block Ghars” to be constructed departmentally.
At the inaugural session, chaired by RD Director, Metsubo Jamir, the Nagaland Village Development Board Association President and Vice President shared their experiences and at the same time highlighted the problems faced by the different villages and requested the department for continued guidance.
Later, a Technical Session was held where the performances of the all the different programmes and schemes were reviewed. NABARD General Manager shared on the importance of Micro Finance. The Technical Session was also facilitated by R.D. Director. Vote of thanks was given by Waichiba, Additional Director, RD. The meeting was attended by the Project Directors, Block Development Officers, and Programme Officers.
