Committee reviews research activities on Mithun

Scientists and researchers at NRCM, Jharnapani during the meeting of the Research Advisory Committee.
 
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): A meeting of the Research Advisory Committee was held at NRCM, Jharnapani to discuss the ongoing and proposed research activities of the Institute.
A note issued by Dr. Naresh Prasad, Scientist, NRC on Mithun stated that scientists presented their ongoing and proposed research and extension activities in the meeting and the members thoroughly scrutinized the programmes. Dr. Balaraman, former Vice Chancellor of TANUVAS expressed the need to take extensive activities at the field level to generate baseline data on Mithun production system in different Mithun rearing areas in Nagaland and neighbouring states.
Dr. Rawal Rawal, vice president, BAIF emphasized the importance of cooperation between the State A.H. Department and the institute to take up joint activities for the development of the people in the state. Dr. Moses suggested for improving the Mithun as well as feed and foddering resources by efficient utilization of available diverse biomass and the government machinary. Dr R.N. Goswami Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences, AAU, Assam, expressed his concern about setting up of a bio-informatics unit at the centre to analyze and identify uniqueness of the Mithun germplasm. Dr. Zinyu Former Director, Medical, Government of Nagaland asked the institute to take up activities for development of Agri-Silvi-Pasture and forest based Mithun farming systems.
Dr. Rajkhowa Director, NRCM, Jharnapani expressed his gratitude to all the members for their active participation and through discussion. The suggestions made by the august body will help to improve the future activities of the institute and the institute will be able to serve the farming community in a better way.
