Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The establishments of the Chief Medical Officer in Wokha and Kiphire organised outreach programmes in the form of free medical health camps on November 26 and 27.
According to a press release received here on Sunday, a Multi-Specialty Health Camp was conducted at the Anatongre Health & Wellness Centre. The Camp was a result of collaboration between the CMO office, Kiphire District Hospital and the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) Divisional Management Unit.
At least 154 OPD patients were screened during the camp along with 126 screenings for non communicable diseases, 7 antenatal care; 3 sputum tests; 102 Malaria tests; 111 HIV screening; 50 COVID testings; 29 cataract and Glaucoma screenings; 35 Paedetric cases; 20 Dental cases; and 29 eye screenings. A total of 2 Persons with disabilities were also screened and free reading glasses were also provided to the patients, the release stated.
Before the camp got underway, a brief programme was conducted, during which, Kiphire CMO conveyed gratitude to the villagers for their cooperation, while stating that the medical department alone would not be able to move forward without their assistance and cooperation.
Also acknowledging the collaboration with District Hospital Kiphire and NFMP, Divisional Management Unit, the CMO said the collaboration would not be the last but would continue in the days to come.
Meanwhile, the Forest Unit, on seeing the success of Anatongre HWC, appreciated the medical department for managing the unit in such a good condition. They pointed out its cleanliness and the services and facilities the unit provides, and gave their word to coordinate with the department in future endeavours.
The release also stated that seven doctors carried out the medical camp led by the Chief Medical Officer and the District Tuberculosis Officer, Kiphire.
Drivers, handymen receive free medical checks
Meanwhile, the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Wokha under Wokha CMO conducted the free medical camp at Tiyi Hall, Wokha on Sunday.
The free medical camp is a part of the outreach programme which was conducted in collaboration with All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA), ISRN/ Non- Link Workers Scheme, District AIDS Control Unit, Mobile ICDS, National Vector Born Diseases control programme, informed a DIPR report.
President ACVA, Renpithung Ngullie, said under ACVA there are six active units— Auto Union, Taxi (ANTA, Wokha Unit), Truck Union, Bus union, Mini Truck and Tata mobile/Pick-up, and at the same time appreciated the medical department for organising a camp targeting the drivers and handymen and acknowledging them as frontline workers.
He also appealed to the medical department to provide free medical camp during their foundation day (May 17) which is observed annually.
UPHC, Wokha Consultant, Oponthung Kingken while addressing a short programme before the start of the medical camp, said that the UPHC has targeted the members of the ACVA as they are always engaged in doing social service and do not get time to even go for normal medical check-up. He said the camp is a monthly activity under its outreach programme to reach out to the citizens of Wokha town and provide free treatment, medicines and vaccination.
Members from ACVA of all units comprising of the vehicle owners, drivers and handyman and other general public attended free medical camp, during the camp free medical check-up, free medicines and vaccination of various kind were provided to the attendees.
The medical camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr Temjen Ao, Dr Thunjamo, and supported by nurses and staff from UPHC, Wokha.
