A dedicatory programme for a newly constructed classroom at Government Primary School (GPS), Airfield Colony was held in the school premises on April 23.
The classroom was constructed through contributions from teachers, School Management Committee (SMC) members, colony council, Chairman WTC and well-wishers. The initiative was undertaken to address the shortage of classrooms faced by the school.
Despite limited infrastructure, the school has recorded notable achievements. It secured 3rd rank in the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) category in Wokha district in 2023 and also produced toppers in the PSLC examinations in both 2023 and 2024. The school authorities acknowledged the strong support and cooperation extended by the SMC and the local community.
The programme was chaired by Mam Loreni, while the dedicatory prayer and invocation were pronounced by the colony Deacon. Teacher-in-charge, Lichan, delivered the welcome address. Short speeches were delivered by SMC Chairman Zubemo, Airfield Colony Council Chairman Vincent, and Nzan, highlighting the importance of community support in strengthening educational infrastructure. Kumchen Murry delivered the acknowledgement and vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a benediction and prayer for refreshment by the colony Deaconess.
Earlier, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new classroom was carried out by the Chairman of the Airfield Colony Council.
The teachers and students dedicated the newly constructed classroom to the residents of Airfield Colony in appreciation of their continued support.
