Kohima, August 21 (MExN): A community well was inaugurated recently at Losami village under Phek district. It was constructed under MGNREGA during 2020-2021 by Village Development Board (VDB) Losami.
This is a permanent spring water since time immemorial and provides water to all the villagers during dry season or when the main pipe water connection gets damage. The community well was constructed with an aim to access clean drinking water with most basic of filtration system that can eliminate water toxicity. The perimeter of community well is 36x15 feet, which can hold up to 15,000 litres capacity.
The Community Well was formally inaugurated by Losami Village Council chairman Zechete Mekrisuh while dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Kesowe Mekrisuh Pastor Losami Baptist Church. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Losami VDB secretary Wepete Mekrisuh.
