Kohima, April 13 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today pointed out that for too long the people have been talking about politics and politicking has consumed most of “our time and energy.”
“It is high time we apply and concentrate our mind in human resource development,” Rio told the gathering during the launching ceremony of Project Care here in the Zonal Council Hall.
Everyone has to be healthy and educated; only then, can he become a responsible citizen. Otherwise, he has becomes a liability not only to his family, but a big burden to the society as well, Rio said.
Rio also invited all responsible Naga citizens to do serious introspection on certain areas of concern, having a direct bearing on our integrity, morality and values as a people.
“I suspect that we are indulging in cheating in the matters of census, voters enrolment etc., Rio said and questioned “Are we also over reporting our VDB households, enrolment of students in communitised schools just to claim more monetary benefits?”
If we are prepared to cheat for these small benefits, a time will come when we will cheat for bigger stakes, he said adding that in the process the people will bargain away the Naga character of straightforwardness and honestly.
Let us do away with this seed of cheating before it destroy us, Rio added.
