We feel it our right to raise our concern over the present crisis going on in the implementation of PMs Package in Wokha district. At the outset, we the undersigned agree with the view of the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) who had demanded for a review of the estimates into the PMs Package and that it should cover the whole of Wokha district instead of confining to the Wokha town alone, where the roads had been have been already constructed under DONER just couple of months back. Sir, many of the undersigned here below belong to the backward villages of Wokha district where we do not have even a jeep-able road and our villages also deserve attention of the government especially in the said PMs Package if it is meant for improvement of roads in Wokha district of Nagaland and not Wokha town of Nagaland.
We, therefore, strongly urge the Government of Nagaland and particularly our Hon’ble Minister for Health Dr. TM Lotha to take appropriate action to solve the problem taking into view the interest of the Wokha District as a whole and not Wokha Town in particular. We also support those individual concerned citizens of Wokha who have filed a representation to the Chief Engineer PWD. But we feel sorry that many of the Sub- Contractors of the PMs Package and their cronies are going from house to house to intimate and threaten the signatories with dire consequences if they do not withdraw their signatures. Truth is truth and shall remain forever the same and so what is the difference if the concerned citizens withdrew their signature out of fear for their lives?
We are convinced that the points they have raised to the Chief Engineer hold no water and the Government must verify the same instead of waiting for the Sub-Contractors to force the signatories to withdraw the representation.
