Kiphire, September 28 (MExN): The district co-ordination meeting on Promoting Access to Care and Treatment Project (PACT/GFATM) was held at the official chamber of the Chief Medical Officer Kiphire September 26 which was attended by Hony Secretary IRCS Kiphire branch, IBAPWO, KpNP+, DIO, DMO, Parish Priest and Chief Medical Officer.
Speaking at the occasion the CMO Kiphire Dr Sungit Jamir said, “It is a matter of concern that HIV/AIDS case is growing in the district and seeks the opinion of the members present as to how the disease can be contain so that people live a better life.”
“Despite various awareness, sensitizations and IEC distributions, most people doesn’t take much serious and we have to collaborate and contribute each other what will be the best to achieve the goal which is of same mission with different programs and hope that the same kind of coordination meeting be conducted time to time for effective implementation at Government and NGOs level,” he said.
He also called upon the NGO present working in the sectors to come together and work so that the living condition of the people is improved he also added, “We should all try to give preventive aspect so that they don’t become a victim.” Sharing his concern the CMO also said, “High risk people are not coming to test the blood and we cannot force the people to test the blood so we should all join hands and work and finds a way out to bring those people to get their blood tested so that they have quality life.”
Lithsa District Supporting officer PACT/GFATM while welcoming the gathering said PACT is one of the PFI sponsored programme and extent gratitude to the members for making available for the meeting. ICTC Kiphire, Pungro, DIC KpNP+ IBAPWO gave their quarterly update reports in the meeting.
Erothe, president KpNP+ who is on ART shared on his life before and after infection. Being detected Positive in 2007 where in those days no proper information was known to him in regard to treatment services and supposed to be at the last stage of his life, became a member of KpNP+ without any hesitation from fear of stigma and discrimination and after which he started ART crediting the DLN Staffs for all the supports and initiatives in shaping his life.
During the discussion hour, various feedbacks and suggestions were shared amongst the members for effective implementation at the district level on maintaining accurate data, Pastoral care, increase for referrals, Outreach, strategy study for targeted HRGs rather than random programmes and planning, introducing of ENSSS (Kiphire based NGO) which resurfaced in the field after a gap of years, role of media, Support Net activities of PACT etc.
