DIMAPUR, AUGUST 9 (MExN): The Opposition Congress has upped the ante on the power crisis particularly in Dimapur area by holding a protest in the form of picketing today. The President of the DCC Dimapur Kughato S. Aye and Convenor Anti-Corruption Cell H. Kisheto Chishi in a joint ultimatum to the Chief Engineer, Electrical Department demanded that the bill for these period (of load shedding) should be reduced to 60% below the minimum bill and immediate restoration of normal power supply for Dimapur within one week w.e.f. 9th to 16th August 2012.
Failing to give satisfactory reply and comply to its demand, the ultimatum from the Congress stated that it would be compelled to take further course of action as deem fit in a democratic way. The letter to the Chief Engineer has sought “prompt initiatives so as to ensure earliest restoration of load shedding at Dimapur”.
The letter stated that “some of the actions and prevailing practices in your department have come to the scrutiny of the DCC which need your prompt clarification”. The DCC mentioned about the “prevailing irregular and manipulative practices” and pointing out that this need to be seriously redressed to avoid further deteriorating situation resulting to load shedding in the near future.
