Free Heart Screening Camp for Children (0-18 years) at District Hospital Dimapur on March 12.

Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): A free congenital heart disease screening camp for children between the ages of 0-18 years was held at District Hospital Dimapur on March 12. The screening camp was organised by Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) Dimapur under National Health Mission Nagaland in collaboration Health City Hospital, Guwahati.
A press release received here stated that early detection and treatment are crucial to manage congenial heart diseases. Common signs and symptoms in children are breathing difficulty, poor growth and weight gain, easily tires while playing or when engaged in physical activities, bluish discoloration of the lips and the skin, etc. In such suspected cases, a pediatrician must be consulted first and then after assessment maybe referred to a pediatric cardiologist if necessary.
During the screening, a total of 50 Children were screened and 14 were detected with congenial heart disease. Health City Hospital, Guwahati is a Nagaland Government empanelled hospital, children detected with CHD today may avail free treatment through RBSK, or CMHIS, PMJAY or Ayushman Bharat health card. Follow-up checkups will also be provided by Health City Hospital every six months in District Hospital Dimapur.
The screening team from Health City Hospital Hospital, Guwahati included Dr Saurabhi Das, Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist, Dr Nayem Raja, Pediatric CTVS (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery), Dr. Simanta Barman, Ayaskanta Chakraborty, Director Business Development, Sankarr Borah, Marketing Manager, Sasanka Kalita, Marketing Manager, and other supporting staffs.
