The All India Congress Committee (AICC) today launched Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (Organisation Creation Campaign) for Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) as part of its nationwide organisational restructuring effort.

Addressing a press conference after the launching programme at Congress Bhavan Kohima, AICC Seva Dal Chief Organizer and AICC observer Lalji Desai said that the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan is aimed at raising the voice of Congress workers from the grassroots right from booth, block and district levels to ensure their opinions, feedback, and recommendations shape the future of the organisation.

He stated that the perception across India is gradually changing, with growing opposition to the ruling government at the Centre. However, he stressed that along with political opposition, there is an urgent need to transform and strengthen the Congress organisation internally.

In this context, he said the initiative was launched under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

He informed that the process has already been successfully conducted in several states including Gujarat, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and is now being taken up in more states, including Nagaland.

The AICC Observer said the party is reviving its traditional bottom-up approach to understand community-level and organisational issues, and to arrive at practical solutions rather than merely discussing problems.

During their stay in Nagaland, he said that the observers will interact extensively with Congress workers, both in groups and individually, assuring that every worker will have an opportunity to be heard.

He added that assembly-level discussions and meetings with senior leaders will also be held to gain an overall assessment of the party’s organisational health.
Based on consultations, he said that decisions regarding the appointment of District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents may be taken to ensure the best possible leadership in all districts of the state.

Khriedi Theünuo and C. Apok Jamir, both Working President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) also addressed the media.

Earlier, the launching programme was chaired by KDCC General Secretary Kejalhuto Punyii while vote of thanks was proposed by KDCC president Ketseiyie Mere.
