DIMAPUR, MAR 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has noted surprise over the fact that the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), running the affairs of the State Government, “dragged the State Government officials to participate in the 3 years Achievement of ‘DAN Government of Nagaland’ programme held on 6th March, 2006 in Kohima.”
Saying that the recent celebration of the 3 years of DAN in office for their mere ribbon-cutting achievements at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima “had involved two of the Senior Most Officials of the State Government,” NPCC President Hokheto Sumi said the Government Servant Service Conduct Rules clearly states that no Government Employee should involve themselves in any of the activities of Political Parties in any form.
“The Chief Secretary and the Addl. Chief Secretary of Nagaland were made to tender the Welcome Address and Chair the celebration function, despite the function being purely political in nature.” However, it is being noticed that the DAN have established a no-rule of law culture by organizing functions with the involvement of the Government employees, the State Congress President said.
“It is expected that Government Servants are employees of the State Government of Nagaland and not of the ‘DAN Government of Nagaland.’”
The NPCC ahs urged the Governor of Nagaland, Shyamal Datta, to intervene into the matter and take stringent measures to restrain Government Officials from involving directly in ‘Political Party’ affairs.
