In the first CM-Connect programme of 2026, aimed at strengthening direct interaction between the government and the people, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, interacted with the villagers of Memillam village, under Adokgre C&RD Block, located on the outskirts of North Garo Hills district, on Saturday.

Expressing satisfaction at beginning the year by engaging directly with citizens at the grassroots level, the Chief Minister said that the CM-Connect platform provides an important opportunity to understand the aspirations, challenges, and developmental needs of rural communities.

He emphasized that such interactions help the government frame people-centric policies and ensure timely delivery of public services.
During the interaction, villagers raised concerns related to road connectivity, electricity, drinking water supply, school infrastructure, and agri-horticulture activities.

After detailed deliberations on each issue, the Chief Minister assured the villagers that all grievances would be addressed through proper follow-up by the concerned departments.

The Chief Minister announced the sanction of Rs 200 crore for the construction of Adokgre -- Mangsang road connecting Memillam village under the World Bank-assisted project, and assured that the process for initiating the work would commence soon.

He also stated that funds for repair and improvement of school infrastructure would be provided under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Scheme.

Highlighting the purpose of the CM-Connect programme, the Chief Minister stated that the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between the administration and the people by bringing governance directly to villages, enabling citizens to voice their concerns without intermediaries, and ensuring transparency, accountability, and swift grievance redressal.
