Consumer awareness prog held in Tuensang district

Consumer awareness programme at PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School, Thangjam under Tuensang district on March 31.

Tuensang, April 1 (MExN): Consumer awareness programmes under the theme “Accurate Measurement, Safe Products–Confident Consumers” were conducted at two institutions in Tuensang district on March 31 and April 1.

At PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School, Thangjam, the programme was organised by the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Tuensang, in collaboration with the host institution.

The session highlighted the importance of fair trade practices, accurate measurement in commercial transactions, and consumer rights, with C Chullen Chang, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Tuensang, emphasising the role of enforcement in ensuring accuracy in weights and measures.

Meanwhile, P Herola, Retainer Lawyer, Tuensang District Legal Services Authority, stressed the need for awareness and legal recourse in cases of unfair trade practices.

The programme was chaired by Limasenla, while Antitola delivered the welcome address. Closing remarks were presented by Yemjong B N Chang, Senior Inspector, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Tuensang.

The Department also organised a similar programme at Sao Chang College auditorium in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, where the Assistant Controller underlined the need for accuracy in measurement systems to build consumer confidence.

Herola’s session, “Know Your Rights,” focused on consumer protection laws and mechanisms available for grievance redressal.

The session was chaired by Alitoli V Sumi, with a welcome address delivered by A Chubasangla Chang, while Yemjong B N Chang proposed the vote of thanks.
