
Guwahati, December 27 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force, Northeast Frontier Railway (RPF-NFR) has recovered items worth Rs. 4, 84, 18,996 during the current year from January to November, an official release informed today.
The RPF-NFR has been successfully conducting raids in trains and railway premises throughout the jurisdiction of NFR to recover contraband items including smuggled goods and detected 93 were detected during the period, it said.
There were 36 each of such cases detected in Assam and West Bengal, 15 in Bihar and 3 each in Nagaland and Tripura, inforemd the release issued by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda.
Among the item seized, Gold bar of about 4.14 kgs worth about Rs. 2, 21, 95,043 were seized on two occasions at New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati stations while 13 gold biscuits weighing about 2.15 kgs of value about Rs. 01.12 crores were seized during a joint raid by RPF and DRI officials on October 2, with the arrest of four persons in Guwahati stations, it added.
Similarly, 12 Gold biscuits were seized at New Jalpaiguri station during raid on August 22.
The seizures also included foreign made Cigarette of value Rs. 88, 48,000; foreign made foot wear/garments/sweater worth Rs. 18, 66,955; foreign made electronics items worth Rs. 2,83,205; and Betel nuts/Tobacco worth Rs. 82,20,272.
